Building a New Home
You're breaking ground on a new home in Loveland, Mason, or elsewhere in the Cincinnati suburbs and need the foundation excavated to your builder's specs.
A clean dig is the difference between a smooth build and weeks of expensive rework.
Expert residential excavation for foundations, basements, pools, and ponds.
The Liteworks standard
You know where the dirt goes, how long the job takes, and what the next crew is getting.
What goes wrong
Overdigging, bad spoil placement, and sloppy access planning can make the foundation, pool, or pond crew fight the site before they even start.
What we leave behind
A precise hole, protected access, and a clean handoff to the next contractor.
Walk the site and find the constraint.
Plan access, water, spoil, and cleanup.
Do the work and leave it ready.
Residential excavation paths
Homeowners are not buying “excavation.” They are buying a property that works better afterward. We separate the work by outcome so access, water, grade, cleanup, and the next phase are handled before equipment shows up.
You're breaking ground on a new home in Loveland, Mason, or elsewhere in the Cincinnati suburbs and need the foundation excavated to your builder's specs.
You're installing a gunite, fiberglass, or vinyl liner pool and need the hole dug to the pool company's exact specifications.
You're creating a pond on your acreage in Clermont or Warren County and need it excavated to the right depth and shape.
You want to add usable space beneath an existing structure — foundation excavation that needs to be done carefully around the existing building.
The part homeowners do not see
Before work starts, Liteworks is thinking through access, utilities, drainage, materials, cleanup, and how the site gets handed off. That is what keeps a straightforward excavation project from becoming an expensive mess.
Before we quote it
The best quote comes from knowing what can go wrong before work starts. For some projects, plans help. For others, photos and a site visit tell the real story. Either way, the goal is a clear scope before equipment shows up.
Here are some common reasons Cincinnati homeowners call us for excavation

Field proof
The photos are not decoration. They should show clean access, clean edges, manageable spoil, and a site that still looks like someone cared about the property.

Cincinnati clay, tight yards, real constraints
Your home is your biggest investment, and excavation is where that investment gets its foundation — literally. Whether you're building a new home, adding a basement to an existing structure, installing an in-ground pool, or creating a backyard pond, Liteworks Co. delivers precision residential excavation throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
We understand that residential excavation on an occupied property has unique challenges. Access is often limited through narrow gates or around existing landscaping. Neighbors are close. The homeowner is right there watching — and deserves a contractor who communicates clearly, protects the surrounding yard, and cleans up after themselves. We take those expectations seriously.
Before any digging, we call OUPS (or Kentucky 811 for Northern Kentucky properties) to locate all underground utilities. We take this step on every residential project, every time — it protects your home, our crew, and the utility infrastructure your household depends on.
Cincinnati's heavy clay soils affect residential excavation in ways that surprise homeowners who haven't been through it before. Clay excavates cleanly and holds a wall face well, which is a plus — but excavated clay is bulky, doesn't compact back to its original volume easily, and can become very heavy and sticky when wet. We plan spoil management accordingly and discuss your options for the excavated material during the quoting process.
Pool excavation is one of our most common residential jobs, particularly in established neighborhoods like Indian Hill, Anderson Township, and the suburbs of Clermont and Warren counties where lots are large enough for in-ground pools. We work directly from your pool contractor's dig specs, coordinate access through your yard to minimize damage, and use the right size equipment for the specific access conditions on your property. If your pool contractor needs the hole by a specific date, we build our schedule around that.
Foundation excavation for new home construction — whether in a new subdivision in Liberty Township or Mason, or on a custom lot in Loveland or Milford — is work where precision matters from the start. We excavate to your builder's exact dimensions and verify depths before we leave the site. A foundation hole that's off in depth or dimension creates problems for every trade that follows, and we don't leave that problem behind for someone else to deal with.
Numbers homeowners ask for
1–3 days for most residential foundation and pool excavations; pond construction may vary by size
$3,500 – $18,000 depending on excavation depth, volume, soil conditions, and spoil management

"We were nervous about the excavator fitting through our side gate and not tearing up the yard. They used a compact machine for the approach, protected the lawn with mats, and had the pool hole dug in a day and a half. Yard looked fine after. Exactly what we hoped for."
